8.4. Regular meetings SC coordination meetings

At the kick off meeting the decision was made not to elect formally any Steering Committee for the Project. Besides the above given essential reasons, such a decision was also motivated by the experiences gained within previous Tempus projects and suggestions of the National Tempus Office to enhance democratic ways of making decisions involving all Consortium members. Therefore, PMB gained much more importance, and its meetings had to be more frequent than planned. On the other hand, the coordinator had to intensify everyday consultations with leaders of the Work Packages and other leading persons responsible for partner institutions, in order to ensure efficient and smooth functioning of the project. From this point of view it is very important that CONUS was the Grant Holder institution. Informally, a group of leaders of WP’s actual for the past period of time played the role of a formal SC very effectively.
